Masaharu Iwata returns to lead role for smartphone RPG

After a long period working in the shadows, Masaharu Iwata (Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy Tactics) will be returning to the forefront for a new title. It was announced last week that Iwata will serve as the music director for Memories of the Blue, a new action RPG for smartphones.

He composed tracks for the title alongside fellow Basiscape employees Azusa Chiba, Yoshimi Kudo, and Kazuki Higashihara. Other contributors included vocalist Mika Nakashima for the theme song and sound effects designer Masaaki Kaneko.

About the Author

I've contributed to websites related to game audio since 2002. In this time, I've reviewed over a thousand albums and interviewed hundreds of musicians across the world. As the founder and webmaster of VGMO -Video Game Music Online-, I hope to create a cutting-edge, journalistic resource for all those soundtrack enthusiasts out there. In the process, I would love to further cultivate my passion for music, writing, and generally building things. Please enjoy the site and don't hesitate to say hello!
