Jesper Kyd’s latest score is a Bandcamp exclusive

On January 31, Assassin’s Creed and Hitman series composer Jesper Kyd will release his latest score on Bandcamp. It’s dedicated to Robinson: The Journey, the VR adventure title from Crytek about a young boy who becomes stranded on an alien planet.

The Robinson -The Journey- Official Soundtrack will feature 13 tracks from the original score and two bonus tracks for 5 USD. The game’s electro-acoustic main theme, intended to capture the boy’s sense of wonder and adventure, can be previewed below ahead of the soundtrack’s full release. Further samples can be heard through Kyd’s official website.

Kyd notes that he “wrote a score that embodies the feeling of discovery [while] creating a fantastical and mysterious atmosphere in the game. We worked on making the jungle come alive using analog and acoustic instruments as elements of the forest and creatures inhabiting the world of Robinson. The score is more minimal than I am used to writing and it’s a music style that lends itself really well to the VR experience in Robinson.”

Now production has wrapped on Robinson: The Journey, Kyd is completing his soundtrack for Microsoft’s State of Decay 2, which is expected to build on his impressive score for the original. He has additionally wrote the haunting music of MU Legend, a follow-up to the Korean MMORPG MU Online, which is currently in closed beta.
