Nobuo Uematsu creates theme song for Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward

Square Enix revealed the theme song for the expansion Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward today. Entitled “Dragonsong”, the song is a ballad composed by series’ veteran Nobuo Uematsu and sung by American vocalist Susan Calloway. It can heard in full in the trailer-of-sorts below:

Uematsu and Calloway previously teamed up to create the epic theme song for the main game, “Answers”, which famously played when the original world of Final Fantasy XIV was destroyed by Bahamut. “Dragonsong” adopts a similar structure to “Answers”, but generally leans towards a softer, pensive approach.

The rest of the soundtrack for Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward will be composed by Masayoshi Soken, the fan favourite behind the music for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. To learn more about his music for the series, read our recent interview with him.

  1. Josh Barron says:

I would love to see just a complete album of original works by Uematsu with vocalist Susan Calloway. Nothing synth either… just an orchestra and her voice. It would be absolutely amazing.
