Jeff van Dyck scores music for new Warhammer title

It was revealed today that Jeff van Dyck (Total War, Alien: Isolation, EA Sports) is scoring the MOBA title Warhammer 40,000: Dark Nexus Arena.

The score for Dark Nexus Arena promises to be an innovative one. Van Dyck notes that “We want Dark Nexus Arena to have a unique sound and a fresh interpretation of how the music [for Warhammer 40,000] should be.”

The score will feature different sounds for each faction; whereas the Space Marines will be portrayed with militaristic brass-focused orchestrations, the Tau will be scored with taiko drums and some electronic sounds.

The official developer’s blog contains an interview with Van Dyck and samples from the score. Early access to Dark Nexus Arena will open on May 8.
