Pixel Noir: Super Mysterious Detective Sampler sleuths onto Bandcamp

Composer Kunal Majmudar of Pixeltone Music has released a soundtrack sampler of the upcoming 16-bit-inspired RPG Pixel Noir on Bandcamp. The sampler, priced at $3 USD, features five tracks from the game, which is still in the process of gathering funds through a Kickstarter campaign.

Developed by indie game company SWDTech Games, Pixel Noir is described as an “equal blend of Chrono Trigger and Shadowrun,” mixing classic JRPG gameplay with a noir setting.

Majmudar, who is also involved in game music cover band The OneUps and remixing group The Bad Dudes, describes Pixel Noir’s music as a “chip-xilated” soundtrack that features elements of 8-bit-styled chiptunes and orchestral inspired by JRPGs ranging from NES to PlayStation.

Those enticed by the sampler can pitch in $25 USD or more to the Kickstarter campaign to receive the full soundtrack in digital format when it’s finished, with a $100 contribution giving backers access to a physical copy.
