Weifan Chang announced to score Detention

Weifan Chang, a Taiwanese composer musically influenced by a blend of Hollywood films and Japanese games, has been announced as the composer to Red Candle Game’s Detention, a survival horror set in 1960s Taiwan. Detention, which takes place under martial law, will be a point-and-click game that guides the main character through an old, haunted school while incorporating elements of Taiwanese/Chinese culture and mythology along the way.

Weifan Chang began his compositional career in 2006, and has since composed a wide variety of games across genres and platforms including PC, iOS, as well as film scores and commercial jingles. For Detention, Weifan Chang’s score will incorporate elements of electronica, lo-fi, and rock, along with select combinations of traditional Asian instruments for a particularly dark effect.

Detention‘s release date has not yet been set.

A native and lifelong Texan, I currently work in software education while contributing news, reviews, and interviews to VGMO on the side. I love the feeling that comes with the discovery of a brand new soundtrack, and always look forward to the next rekindling of that excitement. Outside of VGMO, I enjoy playing piano, listening to classical music and film scores, and trying to go unnoticed in any stealth RPG I can find.
