Piano Opera – Music from Final Fantasy to tour twelve countries

Piano Opera – Music from Final Fantasy is a series of solo piano concerts celebrating the music of the Final Fantasy. It features music from the trilogy of Piano Opera albums released for the Final Fantasy series released over the last three years. Premiered in Japan last year, the concert will now be coming to twelve more countries as part of a worldwide tour.

The concert will focus on the Final Fantasy titles VI, VII, VIII, and IX. Confirmed titles include “Ami”, “The Man with a Machine Gun”, “Roses of May”, “Not Alone”, “Liberi Fatali”, “Melodies Of Life”, “Fight On!”, “Cosmo Canyon” and “Words Drowned by Fireworks” among others. To make the experience all the more emotional, an in-concert video edit of footage from the games will be displayed on the giant screen along with the music, portraying all the most intense moments of action and emotion of the saga.

The concert will feature music from Final Fantasy legend Nobuo Uematsu arranged and performed by Hiroyuki Nakayama, a classically-trained graduate of the Tokyo University of Arts with a leaning towards romantic pianists such as Chopin and Schubert. For each concert 150 VIP ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet Nobuo Uematsu and Hiroyuki Nakayama for a photo and sign session. Performances of Nakayama’s music from the Japan concerts are featured in the trailer below:

While our reception to the trilogy of the albums was mixed, we feel the AGMA-winning Piano Opera Final Fantasy I / II / III is one of the greatest game music piano albums ever created.
