Johto Legends now available on digital storefronts, vinyl

The successful Kickstarter launched by Pokémon Reorchestrated’s Braxton Burks has resulted in an orchestral re-imagining of the soundtrack to Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal. The album consists of 30 arrangements from the second generation in the series, including a small three-part suite for the legendary dogs Suicune, Entei, and Raikou.

Johto Legends is a passion project I’ve wanted to fulfill since I was eleven years old,” says Burks. “It was the game’s soundtracks that really pulled me in with its memorable 8-bit melodies, an eclectic mix of romantic harmonies and Japanese folk music – the perfect backdrop for the Johto region….I hope listeners will be able to recall their own nostalgic Pokémon journey – the battles, the towns, the routes and caves…and all the adventures in between.”

Johto Legends is available for digital download on Bandcamp and as a gold-and-silver foil-wrapped vinyl on iam8bit.

A native and lifelong Texan, I currently work in software education while contributing news, reviews, and interviews to VGMO on the side. I love the feeling that comes with the discovery of a brand new soundtrack, and always look forward to the next rekindling of that excitement. Outside of VGMO, I enjoy playing piano, listening to classical music and film scores, and trying to go unnoticed in any stealth RPG I can find.
