Funding goal reached! Thank you so much for supporting VGMO
Yesterday, we announced that VGMO will have to close at the end of the year if it doesn’t start to become more self-sustainable. In less than 24 hours, we managed to raise our funding goal thanks to donations and publicity from numerous incredible members of the game music community. This has given the site a lifeline and restored our faith in the community. Thank you so much. We want to give special thanks to the following donors and supporters (listed in order of contribution):
Sebastian Wolff (LOUDR)
Kory Caldwell (The Players’ Score)
Jon Everist (Everist Sound)
Mohammed Taher (Brave Wave)
VGMO’s problems aren’t completely resolved. The 920 USD raised will cover close to half of our costs over the next year. While that is fantastic, we’re very happy to accept further donations and sponsors as outlined here. It will mean a huge amount if you can support us.
But either way, now we have this incredible lifeline, we can continue for the long run. We’re now looking at options to be more self-sustainable in the long-term. We are reducing some of our costs, for example by switching hosts, and we also hope to secure more funding with the help of crowdfunding campaigns. Any shortfall will continue to be covered out of my own pocket and any excess will be put straight back into the site.
Thanks so much to everyone who has helped ensure the site’s future. Special thanks also to the volunteer staff members of VGMO for their support in these difficult times. Rest assured we’ll keep on giving back to the fans and the musicians.
