Basiscape go electronic for Vanillaware mech title

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was among the many games to be revealed at Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference this year. Developed by Vanillaware and published by Atlus, the mech title will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on January 14, 2016.

The teaser trailer revealed that music production company Basiscape is handling the music for the title under the direction of their founder Hitoshi Sakimoto. The company has extensively collaborated with Vanillaware in the past, most notably through the breathtaking soundtracks for Odin Sphere and Muramasa: The Demon Blade.

The art style and trailer music indicate that the music will have a strong electronic focus, which may provide an opportunity for Basiscape’s team to cultivate their versatility. Basiscape currently hosts six full-time composers, including Sakimoto, though it is currently unclear who will contribute to this score.
